The new forum is up and running. The site is stable and responds well. I also like its format and color scheme.
Also, system email works again. A few of the items/functions that now operate correctly:
- New users, upon signing up, receive a registration email.
- Emails are sent for new posts to/from users/threads you are following.
- Emailing a specific post works.
- Reporting and notifications works.
The last item, reporting/notifications, I’d like to speak about.
At the top right of a post, between the date/time and the post number, are two icons - a flag and a link symbol. The link is the email post function, and the flag is the reporting a post function.
When you press the flag icon, a message box pops up where you fill in your reason for reporting or notifying us of the post. Submitting this message sends an email to all moderators and administrators with your comments and the post’s details. It is an anonymous method of bringing a post to our attention, instead of publicly submitting your comments on a thread.
This is useful for when you need to contact/notify a moderator - for example, requesting editing due to inadvertently posting too much personal information and the edit time limit has expired.
It is also a method of reporting abusive/offensive posts, etc. Fortunately, we seldom have these type of issues here. The posting guidelines are quite clear, users are sincere, and the moderators are active.
If you need to notify/report a post, please provide adequate details of your request and/or problem. We will endeavour to resolve it quickly.
