Certain words in square brackets are interpreted as commands by the forum software. One of those commands is quote.
The structure, or syntax, of the command is (I’ll purposefully leave a space right after the first square bracket, otherwise the software will perform the quoting and you won’t be able to see the structure):
[ quote=Poster’s Name]The text you wish to quote.[/quote]
Typing the above line exactly as is, minus that leading space between “[” and “quote” will yield:

Pressing preview will display the quote so you can ensure before posting.
