Hey Mer--it looks like Joanne wants a new topic du jour. I know you come up with the best ones, so I'm inviting it.

Until then, I'll do a little journaling.

Since I last mentioned Mr. W., he had called me yesterday after lunch and seemed a bit sad. He verbalized that he was going to miss us over the holiday weekend, and I opted to keep my mouth shut. So I was not at all surprised by his call at home last night.

He was just leaving work and talked to D10 for a few minutes when she yelled, "HEY, MOM! DAD WANTS TO TALK TO YOU."

He seemed a little nervous, cleared his throat and proceeded with, "Bets, do you guys have dinner plans tomorrow night?"

I was in the kitchen with everyone, so I repeated the question to my sister and BIL, who have taken it upon themselves to be my caretaker until they leave (including the cooking!). My sis grinned and said, "No." Mr. Wonderful said, "Great, can I take you all to dinner then? Provided we head to a kid friendly restaurant of your choice?"

He and my sister have their own special R. She said loudly (with a smile), "You buying?" He started to laugh and replied, "Tell her I heard her! Yes, I'm buying!"

We got that squared away and he commented in a very cheery voice, "Okay, well I'll come over as soon as I finish up at work. Thanks for letting me do this."

So we're all heading out to dinner tonight. I'll let you guys know if anything interesting occurs.
