I kept my XH’s name because I had started a new career with that name and didn’t want the hassle of changing. Had I seen the future to know I’d change again just a few years later, I would’ve gone back to my maiden name and stayed there. I took Sparky’s name when we married. If, Lord forbid, anything goes south there, I’m going back to my maiden name and never looking back. I recall my XH was livid that his first XW went back to her maiden name and he made a big deal about it being for the sake of the girls and having the same name as them. When I DIDN’T go back to mine he was livid that I kept his. F you, dude…you’re the one who cheated and left so whatever. I think that whole thing was just his being an a$$hat. Lol

Like G said, at the end of the day, it’s just a name. I have still lived more of my life as my maiden name than my 2 married names combined. I don’t hyphenate but when I get my Ph.D someday, my maiden name WILL be there along with my current married name, to honor my daddy and my family who have always been my biggest supporters.
