Enjoy your conference. Sounds like perfect GAL. Learn, have fun, network...etc.

Thank you both for replying. You're correct in that it sends me into a spin. One i'm pretty upset about because I'm still spinning this morning in this beautiful resort! Any tips on breaking that spin?
How is/was the conference? In terms of breaking the spin that sounds like a great start. GAL activities which take your mind off your situation and thoughts of the past and focus on you and the future. Work conference where you're learning, networking, and socializing is a great one. Obviously you have a young child so you have responsibilities there, but going to a park or taking a walk/run with a stroller, or joining a mother/parenting group...etc., or getting a sitter for a regular activity. All that stuff will help shift the focus and you'll start to detach and spin less with time.

Thank you so much for checking in BL! I actually thought of ya'll when I was there - totally right, your wisdom is uncanny. Had a super fun time, spin stopped, met super inspirational people out changing the world. Slept for like...10 hours too, so definitely felt 1000% better just from being able to sleep.

Being surrounded by inspirational, kind people who were all so welcoming was amazing. People who set up mobile healthcare during COVID to take care of individuals (especially marginalized) without transportation, people who set up huge COVID vaccination sites as soon as the vaccine rolled out, people who went abroad to treat people from a previously undiagnosable illness in Africa and find ways to effectively treat them.

My ex bragging about his deep philosophical conversations and yoga retreats seemed pretty silly at that point.

I also had time to treat myself to a pina colada and float in a pool which definitely helped!
