Please don't be dissapointed in yourself. It is very hard to negotiate with somebody who simply doesn't listen to you. I'm in the same situation currently so know all about it.
I can't give you more advice than the comments you've received above. This is worth a lot, as it comes from experienced people, and there are not many out there who've been through this.
Seen the little number of people posting in the MLC section I even think very few to be honest...
And thank you Gerda, for your excellent advice in regards to the firm way of interacting with your H when they are not on the way back. I needed this as the past week I was drawn back in and really felt bad. But now again on track.
