Maybe I need to speed up the D process and take a less than ideal deal now so I won't have to possibly end up paying child support to him if he loses his job!!?

Wow, I'm so sorry you're going through this. I can't imagine having to discuss alcoholism with my kids so young, and how hard it must be to hear your child was in pain and you're powerless to do anything. Re: locking in child support now, where I live, child support can be updated anytime circumstances change--e.g., when someone loses their job or gets a raise. It might be wise to double-check with your L if it works the same or differently near you.
