Hey Pam - We had wanted to plan a climb for this spring but D13's bout with anorexia/bulimia made it impossible to train for that. So I will have to pick a peak for next spring - but hey, if I start training now, I'll be in that much better shape for it, right? I did manage to get on my treadmill this morning for a bit.
Nothing magic about the training - fill backpack with kitty litter, hike up and down local hill. Keep doing a little more every week. One foot in front of the other - kind of like DBing
Sorry to hear that your D13 is battling an ED...I've known and tried to help several of my students with this insidous and serious problem....Thank God your D has a Mom who's in the know.
Two of my "girls" were shut down completely when they tried to tell their mothers and fathers what was going on with them...so very sad.
I love your idea of the list of 100...I'm going to work on that one myself. I KNOW doing stand-up will be near the top of the list!
Also Ellie, I was wondering if you know anything about the causes/fixes for excessive facial sweating? (My hands and feet join the party too...armpits? dry as the sahara!)
It's gotten really bad these past few years (hormone checks do not indicate that these are perimenopausal, or so my MD says).
It seems my body temp fluctuates from 97.9 to 99.9 pretty frequently. I have no colon (ulcerative colitis) and a kidney full of stones. I do drink A LOT of water each day.
The sweating is sometimes triggered by foods or coffee, but other times, just comes (as when I'm teaching...very distracting!).
Please forgive me for pumping you for medical info and feel free to NOT respond!
I heard recently about botox being used for excessive sweating, problem is...my entire face would be frozen!!!

LOL!
Still could be perimenopausal - hormone checks don't show anything until you are pretty much there - but lots of women notice symptoms from dropping estrogen for years beforehand.
There is something called Drysol you can use for your hands and feet - but I don't think you can use it on your face.
You might try some of the soy products marketed for menopause.
I go for a complete physical in Oct...so I'll be sure to get the hormomes re-checked and look into your other suggestions. One thing I do recall is that this facial sweating seemed to start right after I had my colon removed (I was 25)...whenever I would eat, my HR and sweating would crank up a lot. Hmmm.
