Yeah. I'm not terribly worried about that, and the reason I'm not worried is that we don't work in the same building, and technically not even in the same town (although the towns are connected). She runs a pizza store, I do IT work for the office. We don't have regular work contact. This job is absolutely great, and it's a massive opportunity for me to change my life...and honestly it would be stupid for me to let it go. Given that I have pretty much no contact with her at work, I'd say I'm doing ok.
The office job she was trying to get in this office fell through. She did not get it. Instead she got an in-store promotion.
Still way too close for comfort. If you are in IT then right now you could literally find a job without much effort. I got a cold offer to interview for a job a couple of months ago. Never had that happen before where they literally sent an email saying "Hey, we want you to come interview for this opening." I am in management. I try to hire people and it is like pulling teeth. There are way more IT jobs than applicants to fill them.
