Good job on the roommate - that sounds ideal! And go for it with the guitar - I learned to play the drums at 53 during my divorce and it was the best thing I ever did. Joined an adult rock band class (think "School of Rock" for grownups) and ended up playing in a punk rock cover band for several years. Picked up vibraphone and glockenspiel on the way and have toured professionally with my best friend who is a professional singer/songwriter. I'm living proof that you can teach old dogs - or middle aged moms - new tricks!
