In terms of your situation though I see it as a positive - as long as you can manage to remain detached and steady through the contact with him.

From what you described above, he sounds like the pusuer in those interactions and you the distancer. That's no bad thing I feel.

If you can manage pleasant and distant, shrug and go about your day, that's great.
