Sara this is about the legal ramifications... Not what is "parentally " right or wrong. I know it sux, but with a crazy S decisions like this have to be made in a different lenses to avoid legal custody issues.
Your point makes sense with a co parent of a reasonable nature...this sitch makes choices like this a slippery slope.
