Thank you for sharing your difficult story. I think it can help others. If you don't mind, could you tell more about the progression? Was there an affair? I'm also curious about the diagnosis of narcissism.
Narc is a trait not a disorder.

Narcissistic personality disorder is a recognized (DSM-5) personality disorder. I agree that it can't and shouldn't be diagnosed by amateurs, though.
Me: 46 W: 44 Married: 17 Together 21 D13; S10 BD: 03.03.15 (Not attracted to you) Almost 2 years trying, alone, to save marriage Status now: Divorced (effective 06.13.17)
Yes JRuss the disorder is is in DSM V as part of Cluster B as opposed to a separate disorder. It is a trait and can be a disorder.
If you google narcassism then tests are available to see where one is on the trait scale. I scored a 10, up from a 6 so ironically I am getting healthierror, creating more self interest. Up from the wet lettuce I used to be. Test yourself and see. A healthy level of narcissism is useful. There are also healthy ways to be self interested.
If I was unclear I apolarise. I was intending to say as part of a spectrum disorder and often comorbid.
Just saying
