so Monday we went the to doctor and during the checkup he didn't like how painful her left temple was to his touch, so he ordered some blood work and refered us to a neurologist. We saw him yesterday. He ordered an MRI and an EEG. Unfortunately, those are schedule for next Monday & Tuesday. Yesterday she received word from doctor's office that the results from the bood work show "something is going on".

KAW - sounds like she might have temporal arteritis? Inflammation of the temporal artery, usually the bloodwork will show a high sed rate (a rather nonspecific test of inflammation) and the next step would be a biopsy of the temporal artery to confirm the diagnosis. Usually treated with steroids (like prednisone) quite successfully, risks of not treating it include blindness. She needs to know to see doctor immediately if any visual problems develop.

Let me know if you need any more specific info.

KAW,

I'm often lurking on your post. I, too, want to send prayers of healing to your W...and to you as you support her during this time. Got a possible good diagnosis from Ellie. Hope all goes well.

(((KAW)))

Have been lurking -- but so happy to see you
start at new post and get needed support.

Send good wishes for CAW, too.
Soon get well and feel happy, CAW.

My friend, you are a rock and a waterfall.

Be nourished by your own strength.
Find happiness in your own virtue.

But consider a mad trip to the West Coast,
renting a sportscar with a good sound system,
and cruising along the beach with the wind in
your hair.

Send home a mysterious postcard.

Make her wonder what it would be like to lose you.

Or dream about this, at least.

I am glad to hear you have your moments of
"enough is enough." Because we all think U
deserve an ILY that is not silent.

Though we all know CAW does love you,
even if she can't say it right.

And you love her.

And you show us how to love.

Thanks for everything.

I'm still in "limbo" but I'm alright.
Over in Hopefulness.

Cutting yellow roses for your hotel room.
When U visit.

Door's always open.

Love,
Bridget

Hey KAW!

I saw you stopped by while I was "away" on my thread and gave me support. I thank you!

Like most here, my thoughts and prayers are with those who are my friends.

Here's to you!

Hey KAW-

Just a note to say that I appreciate your support as well. We are not far from one another. Maybe we can get together in White Plains for dinner one night and share war stories and battle strategies.

Keep on fighting the good fight.

Just a quick minute here unfortunately ... with working only two days each of the past two weeks, work has certainlty backed up, so probably won't have much time for the bb until this upcoming weekend.

Thanks all for your well wishes and prayers. They seem to work! ... well atleast in that MRI and EEG came back showing nothing wrong. CAW has been getting a kick out of the doc saying, "Well there's nothing in your brain." I'm biting my tongue about that one!

So ... in the meanwhile the doc scheduled another (EMG) test but not until the first week of May and gave some meds to help with pain & dizziness. CAW should be picking up a new pair of glasses this weekend too just in case its from stress of avoid using bi-focals. She tried a pair about three years back, but didn't like wearing them, so she discarded them and went back to her older pair, but there's definately more noticable that she cann't read with them.

Will attempt to catch up this weekend...

'til later,
KAW
