Quote: so Monday we went the to doctor and during the checkup he didn't like how painful her left temple was to his touch, so he ordered some blood work and refered us to a neurologist. We saw him yesterday. He ordered an MRI and an EEG. Unfortunately, those are schedule for next Monday & Tuesday. Yesterday she received word from doctor's office that the results from the bood work show "something is going on".
KAW - sounds like she might have temporal arteritis? Inflammation of the temporal artery, usually the bloodwork will show a high sed rate (a rather nonspecific test of inflammation) and the next step would be a biopsy of the temporal artery to confirm the diagnosis. Usually treated with steroids (like prednisone) quite successfully, risks of not treating it include blindness. She needs to know to see doctor immediately if any visual problems develop.
