RAI - I don't mean to steal your thread, but I love music... so I hope you don't mind me continuing to post on here to share my stuff with others... in hopes you all will do the same for me... I'm always looking for new tunes.
Cake - Friend Is a Four Letter Word To me Coming from you Friend is a four letter word End is the only part of the word That I heard
Muse - Uprising The true meaning of the song is not about love/divorce, it's about not being victim to the tyranny or control of others... and the need to stand up and fight back in the face of our controllers... but the lyrics hit the spot and the song is great: They will not force us They will stop degrading us They will not control us We will be victorious
The Civil Wars - Poison & Wine - about commitment, the theory that marriage is not the everlasting "feeling" of blind love, but the ongoing choice to be with each other I don't have a choice but I'd still choose you I don't love you, but I always will
Also, for people enjoying this thread, and this "new music". I have taken the liberty of creating and sharing a "DB Songbook" playlist on Google Play, it consists of about 100 songs that I added in there personally, and today I will be adding in all of the songs that each person adds to this thread as an ongoing playlist for you all. Go to Google Play, search "DB Playbook" and look for it in the "playlists" section!
This forum and thread are for everyone to use. Feel free to post!!
I am posting this one for obvious reasons. Good bluesy tune.
Why'd you lie, by Colin James
Lyrics The very first rule That you learned in school Was that you shouldn't try to fool The people you're close to
And now you're almost full grown I really should've known If I left you on your own You wouldn't do like you're supposed to
Why'd you lie?
Don't want to hear no alibis Don't want to know the reasons why You left me here to cry While you were out there loving him
And now you're acting real nice You're all sugar and spice You've already thrown the dice Your chances are real slim
Why'd you lie? Why'd you lie?
You'd better make a correction To all this deception And start treating me right 'Cause we had discussed it 'Til I was disgusted There's one thing that I have to say All about sleeping in another man's bed
Why'd you lie? Why'd you lie?
The very first rule That you learned in school Was that you shouldn't try to fool The people you're close to
Why'd you lie? Why'd you lie? Why'd you lie? Why'd you lie?
So this is it I say goodbye To this chapter of my ever-changing life And there's mistakes The path is long And I'm sure I'll answer for them when I'm gone
So when the day comes and The sun won't touch my face Tell the ones who cared enough That I finally left this place That's been so cold Look at my face All the stories it will tell I can't erase The road is long Just one more song A little something to remind you when I'm gone When I'm gone
The road to hell Along the way Is paved with good intentions so they say And some believe That no good deed Goes unpunished in the end or so it seems
So when the day comes and The sun won't touch my face Tell the ones who care enough That I finally left this place
That's been so cold Look at my face All the stories it will tell I can't erase The road is long Just one more song A little something to remind you when I'm gone When I'm gone
So this is it I say goodbye To this chapter of my ever-changing life And there's mistakes The path was long And I'm sure I'll answer for them when I'm gone When I'm gone

When we fall in love, there is always the chance we will get burned. But, that does not mean we should give up if we do get burned. And by not giving up, we mean, giving up on ourselves. Get up and put yourself back together. You are worth it. Be the person only a fool would leave. Get up and try!!!
Pink- "Try"
Ever wonder 'bout what he's doing How it's all turned to lies Sometimes I think that it's better, To never ask why
Where there is desire, there is gonna be a flame Where there is a flame, someone's bound to get burned But just because it burns, doesn't mean you're gonna die You gotta get up and try, and try, and try Gotta get up and try, and try, and try You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
Funny how the heart can be deceiving More than just a couple times Why do we fall in love so easy Even when it's not right
Where there is desire, there is gonna be a flame Where there is a flame, someone's bound to get burned But just because it burns, doesn't mean you're gonna die You gotta get up and try, and try, and try Gotta get up and try, and try, and try You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
Ever worry that it might be ruined And does it make you wanna cry When you're out there doing what you're doing Are you just getting by Tell me are you just getting by, by, by
Where there is desire, there is gonna be a flame Where there is a flame, someone's bound to get burned But just because it burns, doesn't mean you're gonna die You gotta get up and try, and try, and try Gotta get up and try, and try, and try You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try You gotta get up and try, and try, and try You gotta get up and try, and try, and try You gotta get up and try, and try, and try
You gotta get up and try, and try, and try Gotta get up and try, and try, and try

I am not sure what P!nk has gone through in her life, but it seems like she has definitely has her finger on the pulse of a DBer. The lyrics to "Try" (like "give me a reason" - see previous post in this thread) are very poignant and spot-on.
"Sometimes I think that it's better, To never ask why" In the beginning, that is all I asked. As I move along in my sitch, I realize that asking "why?", while a natural response, is a very non-, if not counter-, productive approach. It causes one to focus the past - over which we have no control, even though it is more important to look at the future.
"But just because it burns, doesn't mean you're gonna die" great message. There are a lot of DBers who need to hear this (ATPeace, my friend, I am thinking of you!!). It is a message of optimism that we can all emerge "on the other side" intact and even better than we were before.
Great choice, SH!
Natus,
"Something to remind you" by Staind is very candid, and beautifully sung. It is ok to make mistakes. However, I think it is important to remember that we are NOT defined by our mistakes. It is ok to be somber sometimes, but I hope that we can all look forward to a better future.
Thanks everyone for contributing. Keep your song choices coming.
Another to all the LBS. Understand that no matter how much it hurts, you have to pick yourself up and get through. And yes, I appreciate the name Sledgehammer as I like to go by that sometimes here when a 2x4 just isn't enough to get through.
Sledgehammer by Rihanna
I hit a wall, I never felt so low, so low Like a waterfall, my tears dropped to the floor, the floor They left a swimming pool of salted crimes, crimes Oh, what could I do to change your mind? Nothing
I'm bracing for the pain and I am letting go I'm using all my strength to get out of this hole
I hit a wall, I thought that I would hurt myself Oh I was sure, your words would leave me unconscious And on the floor I'd be lying cold, lifeless But I hit a wall, I hit 'em all, watch the fall You're just another brick and I'm a sledgehammer You're just another brick and I'm a sledgehammer
Yeah I hit a wall, I prayed that I would make it through, make it through I can't survive a life that's without you, that's without you, yeah And I will rise up from the ashes now, the ashes now Oh, the sparrow flies with just the crumbs of loving spilled, yeah
I was bracing for the pain and then I let it go I gathered all my strength and I found myself whole
I hit a wall, I thought that I would hurt myself Oh I was sure, your words would leave me unconscious And on the floor I'd be lying cold, lifeless But I hit a wall, I hit 'em all, watch the fall You're just another brick and I'm a sledgehammer You're just another brick and I'm a sledgehammer You're just another brick and I'm a sledgehammer You're just another brick and I'm a sledgehammer

SH_, "Sledgehammer" is another excellent choice. If we are still alive today, then we have a strength in us that was latent all along and was only brought out by our circumstances! Thank you, circumstances! Now for my next selection:
"You Learn" By Alanis Morissette
Note from RAI: I really dislike the song because I am not a fan of her voice. I find it quite grating. However, today I listened to the lyrics for the first time. There is a huge point to be made here: no experience in life is a waste of time. If we experience, but take nothing away from the experience, then what was it all about. Learn from your Sitch!
It's still not going to make it onto my playlist, though - that voice!!
I recommend getting your heart trampled on to anyone I recommend walking around naked in your living room Swallow it down (what a jagged little pill) It feels so good (swimming in your stomach) Wait until the dust settles
You live you learn You love you learn You cry you learn You lose you learn You bleed you learn You scream you learn
I recommend biting off more then you can chew to anyone I certainly do I recommend sticking your foot in your mouth at any time Feel free Throw it down (the caution blocks you from the wind) Hold it up (to the rays) You wait and see when the smoke clears
You live you learn You love you learn You cry you learn You lose you learn You bleed you learn You scream you learn
Wear it out (the way a three-year-old would do) Melt it down (you're gonna have to eventually anyway) The fire trucks are coming up around the bend
You live you learn You love you learn You cry you learn You lose you learn You bleed you learn You scream you learn
You grieve you learn You choke you learn You laugh you learn You choose you learn You pray you learn You ask you learn You live you learn
Here is a song that I have heard many times, but as I was on my morning jog a few days ago, the words really jumped out at me.
I share this song with all of the LBS that have been here a bit longer than a reasonably good time to get out of the "shocked" stage and start taking action to move forward and heal.
To the LBS that is still standing frozen, afraid, worried, and focused on all of the wrong things, I am speaking to you.
DB and DR from MWD provides you the blueprint for success. Success is measured in many different ways, so it is important that you understand, that you need to take a leap of faith and get to taking some healthy actions. Stop focusing on the details of the one outcome you feel you want in this moment and start following the blueprint. Ask any one successful person if they ever mapped out the road to their goals and had it actually happen detail by detail. No, they simply set some goals and mapped out some actions even if they did not know where it would take them. You have read it here. You have read it in DR. It is counterintuitive. But so are all the successful actions in life.
Are you still standing there trying to have all of the questions and worries answered, before you will commit to taking action? Or are you ready to get started, even if you do not understand fully how the blueprint will lead you to be successful? Will you start following the principles that will guide you to a better place?
My final question to you, is
"What are you waiting for?" by Nickleback
What are you waiting for? What are you waiting for?
Are you waiting on a lightning strike? Are you waiting for the perfect night? Are you waiting 'til the time is right? What are you waiting for? Don't you wanna learn to deal with fear? Don't you wanna take the wheel and steer? Don't you wait another minute here? What are you waiting for?
What are you waiting for?
You gotta go and reach for the top Believe in every dream that you got You're only living once so tell me What are you, what are you waiting for? You know you gotta give it your all And don't you be afraid if you fall You're only living once so tell me What are you, what are you waiting for?
Are you waiting for the right excuse? Are you waiting for a sign to choose? While you're waiting it's the time you lose What are you waiting for? Don't you wanna spread your wings and fly? Don't you really wanna live your life? Don't you wanna love before you die? What are you waiting for?
What are you waiting for?
You gotta go and reach for the top Believe in every dream that you got You're only living once so tell me What are you, what are you waiting for? You know you gotta give it your all And don't you be afraid if you fall You're only living once so tell me What are you, what are you waiting for?
Tell me what you're waiting for Show me what you're aiming for Whatcha going to save it for? So whatcha really waiting for?
Everybody's gonna make mistakes But everybody's got a choice to make Everybody needs a leap of faith When are you taking yours?
What are you waiting for?
You gotta go and reach for the top Believe in every dream that you got You're only living once so tell me What are you, what are you waiting for? You know you gotta give it your all And don't you be afraid if you fall You're only living once so tell me What are you, what are you waiting for?
You gotta go and reach for the top What are you, what are you waiting for? Believe in every dream that you got What are you, what are you waiting for? You know you gotta give it your all What are you, what are you waiting for? You're only living once so tell me What are you, what are you waiting for?
What are you, what are you? What are you, what are you waiting for? What are you, what are you? What are you, what are you waiting for?

Been listening to OAR - "I Go Through" a lot today.
That Ivory Tower is lookin tattered and tired around the eye Ain't get much sleep that night My daddy told me politicians never learn the golden rule 'Do unto others as you'd have them do to you'
You go round and round it, you go over and and under, I go through
Food on the table, runnin car, tuck my kids in at night The American Dream in real life My ma's an angel see the cigarette smoke like a halo round her hair It's shining right behind her standin there
You go round and round it, you go over and under, I go through You go round and round it, you go over and under, I go through
Would you break my legs then you make me walk Seal my lips, then demand I talk You blind my eyes then you ask if I like what you drew Yes you do
You go round and round it, you go over and under, I go through
My itty asked me 'daddy when you comin home to me from work' If I'm being an honest man, that hurt
So I go round and round it, I go over and under, but he goes through
I went round and round it, I go over and over, she goes through
