I have some on either ends of the scale, depending on mood.
Abba - Winner Takes It All
Christina Anguilera - Fighter
The Pretenders - I'll Stand By You (when I feel supportive)
Wilson Phillips - Hold On
Sigma & Rita Ora - Coming Home (I try to think that this is what my H feels)

He's actually sent me Barry Manilow - Even Now (that was confusing)

Awesome thread, I'll have to give a bunch of these a listen. There are a couple songs from bands I never really listened to much before that really resonate with me lately.

Already Gone - Eagles (Perhaps a little "on the nose" but I think of this as a sort of 'Dropping the rope' anthem)

"Well I heard some people talking just the other day"
"And they said you were going to put me on a shelf"
"But let me tell you I got some news for you, and you'll soon find out it's true"
"And then you'll have to eat your lunch all by yourself"
"Cause I'm already gone"
"And I'm feeling strong"
"I will sing this victory song"
....
"Well I know it wasn't you who held me down"
"Heaven knows it wasn't you who set me free"
"So often times it happens, that we live our lives in chains and we never even know we have the key"

Poison - Alice Cooper (to me, re the inner conflict of Detaching)

"I wanna love you but I better not touch"
"I wanna hold you but my senses tell me to stop"
"I wanna kiss you but I want it too much"
"I wanna taste you but your lips are venomous poison"

Me, WW - Upper 30s
BD - Apr 1 2016
EA - Apr 7 2016 (discovered; ongoing for months; did not confront right away)
Confronted wife about EA - May 17
Wife sent NC email to OM - July 11

Interesting how I must have heard the eagles song many times, but never noticed the lyrics. I agree, definitely a dropping the rope and GAL song.

Here is one that resonates with me. Have been listening to it since it came out, but never thought about it as a DB song - until now, that is. It is The Pretender, by the Foo Fighters. Here are selected quotes and what they mean to me.

"Keep you in the dark, You know they all pretend" - WWs secrets and lies. The gaslighting.

"The need you buried deep, The secrets that you keep are ever ready" - the addiction of infidelity.

"I'm finished making sense" - trying to reason with WW was not helpful.

"Done pleading ignorance" Denial - as to our roles in the breakdown of the M. Denial that the R is over.

"It's never-ending, never-ending" - see my thread, 'nuff said.

"What if I say I'm not like the others? What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays?" - Time to take back my self-respect and refuse to be manipulated.

I'm the voice inside your head You refuse to hear, I'm the face that you have to face, Mirrored in your stare
I'm what's left, I'm what's right" - I am the lighthouse. I am also the voice of reason. I am the LBS

"So who are you?" - I think we ask this about WAS or WS daily. And although we desperately want to know, we never will.

Whatever you think of the lyrics, or relevance to DB or your sitch, the song rocks.

Enjoy,

The Avett Brothers just released a new album...
"Ain't No Man" has a message that we are responsible for ourselves and our actions, and no "man" (person), can change the energy I choose to reveal from within myself.

betterm,

Being the rough-and-tumble manly-man that I am, I love the lumberjack song.

-----------------------

Oh, I'm a lumberjack, and I'm okay,
I sleep all night and I work all day.

CHORUS: He's a lumberjack, and he's okay,
He sleeps all night and he works all day.

I cut down trees, I eat my lunch,
I go to the lava-try.
On Wednesdays I go shoppin'
And have buttered scones for tea.

Mounties: He cuts down trees, he eats his lunch,
He goes to the lava-try.
On Wednesdays 'e goes shoppin'
And has buttered scones for tea.

CHORUS

I cut down trees, I skip and jump,
I like to press wild flowers.
I put on women's clothing,
And hang around in bars.

Mounties: He cuts down trees, he skips and jumps,
He likes to press wild flowers.
He puts on women's clothing
And hangs around.... In bars???????

CHORUS

I chop down trees, I wear high heels,
Suspenders and a bra.
I wish I'd been a girlie
Just like my dear mama.

Mounties: He cuts down trees, he wears high heels
Suspenders?? and a .... a Bra????
(spoken, raggedly) What's this? Wants to be a "girlie"? Oh, My!
And I thought you were so rugged! Poofter!

CHORUS

All: He's a lumberjack, and he's okaaaaaaayyy..... (BONG)
