I didn't grow up in an emotionally expressive family, either, and I'm definitely the most emotional one of the bunch (which would make you laugh if you knew me because I'm sooo rational and calm most of the time), but we were at least good with words. Although I remember when my BF was killed in an accident and my dad responded by writing a check... He didn't want me to have to worry about money at the time, poor thing.

So why am I surprised that I married an emotionally withdrawn man?
