Now is the time to be free, single and exploring your faith and the world around you. If it so happens that she wants to come back AFTER doing the work she needs to do at a later time...? Then you can evaluate then. But until then, perish the thought masochist.

P.S. Of course now is the time to put your faith in God. Why wait until things are difficult? And for the record, you didn't 'mishandle' anything.
