Oh, I forgot to mention. A lot of us start with severe anxiety (due to uncertainty), and then as that improves, depression becomes a more prominent symptom (more grief and examining the past). I only say this so you know that you are totally normal if you follow a similar path.
Not to thread hijack - but I'm pretty sure I'm in the same boat (Anxiety->depression), all I've seen are MFT Councillors though and none of them have recommended any drugs... perhaps it's time to see a psychologist, although I try to avoid meds at all costs (I'm mild ADHD and have been off drugs since a teenager).
How do you guys approach this with your MD? or do you find a special psychologist to see?

You need to see an MD to get the scripts (at least in my state). A psychologist or an MFT (usually a PhD) typically are not authorized to write prescriptions, but a psychiatrist (who is an MD) or your primary care doctor can write the prescription for you.
You should just tell your MD your problem and the symptoms you are having. That's what I did, he was very sympathetic to my problems and gave me the prescription right away.

My Dr. prescribed it. If your Dr wants to they can refer you to a psych. I would just tell your Dr. what's going on and ask if he/she would he recommend a prescription?

Just be honest with MD. It's hard as a man to talk about 'feelings', but be honest and express your desire to start something light and see if it helps. Talk about your stress and anxiety to MD.

I started with the MD for the anxiety. I was planning to look into a psychiatrist as I was told by MD this is best for long term stuff like depression. I have not yet, but may still do so. The thing is I have not felt to depressed of late. I may still as my research indicates Meds with CBT conducted with a good psychiatrist/psychologist is most effective for long term depression. Working with IC to see if speak therapy works first before more meds and CBT.
But I would recommend you do some research to determine what is best for you.

Thanks - poschan, I don't think I've ever prayed harder in my life than in the last 3 months... I've been seeing signs as well, subtle, but they are there if you look for them.
For instance last week our tenant in our income property renewed their lease (my W had her eyes on this to move in to in July). I'm pretty sure she was pissed when this happened but she off-course didn't say anything directly to me other than should we raise the rent.
I believe God will continue to put up roadblocks and continue to show her the light back home. It will just take her time to realize it. God has a plan there for all of us, we just need to put some trust in Him.

I want to thank everyone for all of the input. Phoebe you describe things accurately for my sitch...so far severe anxiety is still kicking. This started for me in February so I have a long way to go.

I also recommend that you check into meditation. This is a great thing for anxiety. It takes time to learn how to do it effectively but with practice it can benefit the mind. I am reading a book with an 8 week program that is very good and has helped me stay more in the moment, which is key to minimizing the anxiety.
