The one positive about alimony is that it is tax deductible. So at least I will get maybe 1/3 back.

Still, WW will be living comfortably without having to experience any financial hardship. This is just terrible.

And without any withholdings she's sure to spend it all without a care or concern in the world until her accountant notifies her about her huge tax bill next April.

Of course...that will be your fault too. cry

That is bad. Who is saying that you have to pay alimony? Alimony is not child support.

The state. I live in a very liberal state, the laws are all skewed. Even during separation, my WW will get a very high alimony (it's actually called "spousal support" versus "child support" here.) Most of the Left Coast have it. It works out to be about 32% of our total income together, while child support is only 12%. So she ends up with about 44% of MY income!

I can understand if my WW is a battered woman with no means constantly abused by her H, but she is a Wayward Wife who filed for divorce when her H confronted her with her betrayal!

Terrible!

So how do you navigate that. Take her to court showing that you are divorcing bc she doesn't want to work on things?

Not much to navigate, because we've been married >10 years, she gets alimony and child support while I get screwed. It's a community property state, so she gets half of everything, even though I brought in 95% of everything!

The only thing I can preserve is my house which I smartly kept in my sole name that I bought before the marriage. But even then she gets a portion of the appreciation because part of the mortgage is paid by community property funds. (Trustingly, I opened a joint bank account 17 years ago after we reconciled after her first EA...) Look up Moore-Marsden if you are interested in my screwed up state!

Wow sorry to hear that CWOL. That really $ucks and I thought my state is screwed up. At least I do not have to deal with that. Since she is the one who left, she has no right to spousal support. I kept my house in mine and my dad's name. My problem is the kids, since I did not adopt them she will always be able to use them as a weapon against me.

Yeah, I'm planning to take my S11 to see visit parents out of state for Spring Break. Since she filed, there is an ATRO that bars me from taking him, even though we agreed to do this six months ago. My L put it into my temporary settlement proposal, but she is bickering over whether $10K of her legal fees needs to come from my separate assets or the community assets (she can't pay for it since she makes that much in a whole year!) Don't even go into how screwed up that part of the law is, that I have to pay for her stupid L's lame antics to generate fees!
She better not use it as leverage or I'm gonna go nuclear!

Spent the weekend almost exclusively with WW and S11. She was kind of grouchy at times but we share all our meals together, attended all of S11's events together, etc.
Her L is running out of tricks, trying to attach things to my "future bonuses" and digging up dry holes. Very annoying.

Wow, that is quite the turn around. I am glad you got the time with your S, also glad you did not let WW ruin it with moods.
