Thanks for checking in. I didn't mean to disappear, I've just had a lot going on.

I really like the new place. The neighborhood is great too, much more convenient.
The best part, however, is I have detached from my ex. I don't even want him back anymore. It's such a relief to feel this way. Highly recommend it. Ha!

I still haven't found a way that I can stay in the US. Unfortunately there is no way around it, Europe, here we come.
We have an appt with a mediator coming up, but I'm worried it could turn ugly and we'll end up with lawyers in stead.

G - That is good news! You sound pretty happy and excited about the future, which is great to hear.

If you are worried about the mediator appointment and about going to the lawyer stage eventually why not just get a lawyer now and cancel the appointment? If you don't want to deal with the pain get a lawyer to take on that burden and become your buffer.

I agree with Mutatio. Definitely have missed you around here.

Actually ended up having a rather pleasant conversation with ex on the phone. I think things turn ugly when he feels like I'm keeping him in the dark. I think I managed to get across that that is never my intention, I just don't have the answers myself yet.
He also seemed positively surprised that I asked him to come look after D for en entire weekend when he gets back. Hopefully he realizes I'm not trying to get in the way of them having a relationship.

Things are looking up in my corner of the world - year of the Monkey and all.
