Just to echo the other thoughts, you need to detach more Mu. Take yourself off the roller coaster. You be the best Mu you can be and ignore her behavior. It doesn't matter if she's rude; it only matters that you were polite.

You could set a boundary though about behavior in front of your kids. You don't want the kids getting the idea that you can just choose not to be polite to everyone.
