Jelly, I could use a hug from you. I tell my students in my class, we have no short people in this class, just tall and taller. Then I tell them, we smart and smarter. Your tall and smarter.
Fo, yes it's a hard day, I just couldn't shake it, usually I can. Before I get involved with another woman you dear friends have to approve of her.
V, I never thought of that. The odds are long on that horse but okay.
Dday, thanks buddy, I hope you don't mean like David Bowie and Glen Frey. God rest their souls.
Roiste, Your 100% correct. I knew it from the start. I started to work out also. I think it's as important to be intellectually attractive. The first thing I have to do is stop being a weak whiny man.
Just got back from class, first day, all talk no action. We will spend 4 weeks on vertical stick up and down and overhead stick. After that sometime on MIG. Then we go to TIG. That's what I want to learn. I happy to learn the stick, we're using the 7018 rod now but I don't think I'll use stick that much with my interests. I'll be doing MIG, TIG and torch work. All the TIG work will be Aluminum or Steel. We start working Thursday, class is two nights a week through the middle of May.
Hi Mu! I love that quote that Jelly posted from The Help. It's perfect. I think right now, you need to focus on something other than your W. Have you read "The Lighthouse" yet? It helps me when I'm feeling lost or abandoned.
Welding sounds like fun!

7018 is a good one to start with. It's pretty useful in my line of work, and the material can be dirty, somewhat. 6010 is "farmer rod". You can weld a ruaty chunk of iron with it. Mig hates paint and rust and wind etc. If you are fabbing in a controlled environment, it is easy and pretty. Tig is fun. I am self taught, and don't do it often. So it's a challenge yet. I use it on stainless and some aluminum. It's fun, because you can do things with it that are impossible with a stick welder.
Sorry to bore you, you just hit close to home with me on this. Enjoy it, have fun with it. It's a very handy skill

Truly we never know what our W's are thinking or what their motivation is. All you can do, and it's a huge ALL, is keep forging yourself into the Mu you've always wanted to be. To never let up, even to let the pain of your W's transformation fuel your own.
Stay strong my friend, you know how to alchemize this upset into something magical.

Thanks PigPen, I just had one of those days and I couldn't shake it. Even my students were asking me why I looking so sad. I wear my heart on my sleeve. I feel better now though. I'm going to miss you buddy.
Dday, I used the 6010, the rod from hell. It's a great rod for the field but forget about making a pretty weld. Your not boring me. I love design and fabrication. 2ltl2lt is one of us.
Hi how are you sweet Elly? Jelly's quote is great. I read The Lighthouse once, I think I'll read it again tonight. I forgot where I found it , does anyone know where it is? Welding is fun. I want to make metal sculpture and welding is an necessary skill. I want to bring beauty into the world or at least try.
I want to thank you again dear friends for your support today. It felt really good to see responses to my posts. Your kindness buoys me.
We have a cnc plasma table at my shop. We outfitted a router on it this weekend and cut out some sign letters out of plexiglass. It made a horrible mess but the finished product was nice. We are going to try some wood next just for sh!ts and grins.
I do a lot of mug and fluxcore welding on steel and stainless. We don't use stick much unless we are doing something out of the shop. I have been tig welding for about 20 years now and still learn something new every time. You'll know when you're getting the hang of it when you start getting into the thinner stuff. I'm the only one at the shop who can even think about welding 20 gauge stainless.

I bought a CO2 laser for the school shop. It does a nice job on plexiglass, words images and thin stock cutting. It's not strong enough to cut thick wood but burns words, images and photographs into the wood nicely. It's 45 watts. You can check them out on you tube. I'm tired, good night.
