Hey guys! Ready to rock out when you are! I hopped on to give a weekend update (not Kevin Nealon-style), but I wanted to say I'm excited to get a extra motivation for me to start playing guitar. I could use a good push smile. Do we have a band name? I'm thinking the "Get a Lifers," but that might be a bit lame....

OK Weekend update time. I avoided doing a R talk we went to look at xmas lights instead. We had a great time and really enjoyed ourselves. Spent the next day running errands for Xmas, so not all that much to report. I barely resisted the urge to look at my wife's phone (I was going to ask for consent first) to see if she was making plans for the OM during this week. In the end I decided it just didn't feel like the right time. Partially because I think my desire to look is fueled by paranoia rather than "spidey sense." Partially because I don't want to add to the holiday stress.

Odd thing - I get an strange vibe from my wife, like maybe she's trying to separate herself from the OM. Not sure if it's just wishful thinking, so I'll try not to read into it. I also noticed that she got back faster than I expected from running her errands and is handing me her phone to show me things. She seems to be sending out the signal that there is nothing to see on her phone, but I know it's possible that it's just deeper underground. She also plans to go to work and mentioned that she would take a pic of her desk to show me how messy it is. It's clear she is trying to alleviate my fears, but I refuse to read too much into her motives - it's WAY too easy to get too excited and hopeful. And for now it's just as likely that she's trying to send reconciliatory signals merely to throw me off the scent...

Patience is needed. But hard to find

There is a saying "trust but confirm"

It holds well.

How about Box of Frogs for a name?

Chocolate Teapot?

Band its?

SciDad, how about we dig up that thread about DB related songs and that could be our playlist. Or better yet, forget the DB and lets just play fun songs for our own enjoyment.

My 9 year old gave me a lesson last night and he is so strict! When I complained that my fingers were hurting he told me "Mom, Man up! You didn't hear me complaining when the strings hurt my fingers." I love that kid! I stopped drinking this week and noticed that my vocals are not quite as awesome without the wine, so we need to play loud to cover up my singing.

As far as the phone. My H did the same thing, started showing me things, asking me if I liked his screen better than mine, letting S9 play games on it again, leaving it out on the counter. I will admit a few times I "peeked" but it made me angry, because I felt like it was degrading myself. Actually one day he had asked me if I had looked at an email because I guess it was up on his screen when he turned his phone on and I had absolutely no idea what he was talking about. Sorry to take over your thread, but wanted to share my experience with the phone thing. I feel better when I don't peek at the phone. I feel better that he is not hiding it anymore, not really reassured, but at least I am not being disrespected to my face. But I feel MUCH better about myself when I don't peek. Mostly because if he catches me looking at his phone I feel like I will look pathetic and weak.

V, I believe in trust but confirm. However, I think that the verification should not be continual. I will check again at some point but I don't wasn't it to sidetrack me from the progress I've been making on myself.

And I need a plan of action if I find something

Fo, your son is awesome. So is your singing. If anything the wine opened your ears so you could hear yourself the way everyone else does. Your voice was the same either way. But I'm OK playing loud while you find your confident inner voice.

With the phone my plan was to cover my weakness in feigned strength. She grudgingly agreed that I could look at her phone any time as long as I let her know. I have yet to call her bluff (that's what I assume it was). The idea is that next time I want to look I tell her and do it in front of her.

Merry Christmas everyone! May everyone's life continually improve from this day forward. Whether alone, with family, or with awkward mix please find time to enjoy the little moments in life. Cherish what you have and do not look for what you've lost. It may return to you or it may not. The trick is to use it for personal growth either way.

I love you all and wish you the best.
