Pink, I agree with Sotto. He seems to be trying to keep a foot in since your kids are old enough to make plans directly with him.

He is in a bad place, but it's not your job to rescue him. He has to rescue himself. Because if anything goes wrong, you may be seen as the cause.

But like rd said, you can continue being nice and civil. Just don't rescue him?
