Job--Hijack whenever you want. Yes, she got him out of the hospital yesterday. I think she's had her hands really full, so keep her in your prayers.

Thank you for the update. I've been concerned because of Barb's health, as well as that of her son's. I will most definitely keep her and her family in my thoughts and prayers.

Hey Job et al,

I'm here. Reading along. Life was just busy. And I was not signed in. And never got round to remembering my info. Just figured it out.

Thanks for caring, I think I will update soon.

Just a quick update, but I don't have much to report. I have a 2 week break in traveling, which is a relief. Tonight I'm going to a class to learn glazing techniques (painting furniture), and I'm pretty excited about that.

This weekend, I was invited to D's birthday party downtown. He's throwing himself a 55th birthday dinner at a nice restaurant and invited me to join him and his friends. I accepted!

My D21 gave me a ray of hope by texting me last night to tell me that she is interviewing and applied for an entry level chemical engineering job in the Denver area. Needless to say, her dad and I are cautiously happy about that! It's been so fun to see her every weekend - our goodbyes have been pretty nice because it's not been goodbye for long. They have a mini break this weekend, so she's heading to Rochester with her roommate to spend a good weekend with her family. It's a mutual love affair, and she's most excited about seeing her roomie's grandmother. I'm blessed! On a funny note, her BF wanted to come to Colorado...

That's it for the moment.

Hope everyone has a good hump day!

Betsey

Bets, just another post to say how grateful I am to you for all your input this past year. I don't know that I could have done it without you and LaBug, I really don't. I am sure that I wouldn't be in as happy a place as I am now. So, in this season of giving thanks, thank you.

Sunny D, thanks for making my spidey sense go off to come check the BB! I've been busy IRL and something told me to check in. Thanks for the nice words! I enjoy offering things to think about, and thank you for letting me in to be part of your grace. You're a wonderful person, and I've enjoyed posting with you.

Now that I'm here I guess I should update?

My travel schedule has been IN.SANE. D18 and I have been flying virtually every weekend to watch D21 and her team play volleyball. They won their league (12-0) and are just starting their first match for the bid to the NCAA tournament, which starts next weekend. I'm not traveling - just can't handle one more connecting flight and a 3 hour drive to watch 2 matches. I love my D21 heaps, but I'm tired as hell. I had every plan of flying out on Thursday for the regional tournament (which we find out tomorrow if it's at her school or a school outside of Rochester), but something kind of big happened this week that will keep me home. Not to mention I have 2 projects going on in Jacksonville and Dallas and I am tired of taking my business on the road.

So, Mr. Wonderful and I (as trustees) signed on the dotted line to buy a townhouse close by. When I sell my house after the holidays, D18 and I will be living mortgage free! Yippee! I only found out about this place yesterday, when I noticed the property has been listed as contingent for 6 weeks. Our RE market is so hot that no sellers take contingent contracts, so I new it was weird and had my agent call the seller agent. When we chatted at 9 am, I found out that the house was closing at 8 am this morning. My agent told the selling agent to keep him in mind if something happened or if she knew of another property in this awesome subdivision that was coming on the market. We let it go.

Then at 3:30 he called me and told me that the buyer lost his job on Monday and that the lender pulled the plug. The sellers were freaking out. Enter me. Cash buyer. We're closing on Wednesday. How's that for fast?

This will give me the opportunity to paint, put in new flooring, clean and move in chunks before I do the same to my house and list it after the holidays. So excited! Needless to say, D21 is anything but. She used the term indifferent, but it was said with derision, so my guess is she's not happy about losing her childhood home. Sigh. It's okay for her to leave Colorado and take a job somewhere else, but it's upsetting to her for me to make changes myself.

So, travel, work and trying to do little projects in between is what I've been doing lately. I'm super tired and I look like crap. But it's going to get a little worse before it gets better. But life is on the up, so I'm good. Now if I could just get some sleep...

Have a great weekend. Hope everyone is in a happy place!

Betsey

Hey Bets! I was going to call you and check in but knew you would be crazy on the weekends. I get the moving, both sides. I remember when I went back to vist my Danish parents for the first time since I had come home. They hadn't told me that they were moving. I hadn't even lived there a year but it was probably the most significant year of my life and everything meant so much. I cried so much. I kept telling myself that it was just sticks and stones and nothing to cry about.

I imagine d21 is having those same thoughts, just amplified. Big hugs to you. I loved your house but I totally see why you would move. Tell Val that 911 says hi and is sending hugs. smile

So glad you will be living mortgage free.
Hopefully you can watch the games on the internet.
D21 will get over it, trust me on that one.
Been there done that.
By age 25 you will be smart again and I know she is a good kid, congrats on the award she just won, glad it was for academics.
