Can you go on a low carb diet? Sounds like you are almost there with what you are going to eat.

Cadet, yes this is low GL rather than GI or carb. Complex carbs are ok. Strangely so are new potatoes and sweet potatoes. I don't really get that either! And absolutely no high fructose sugar, apparently it goes straight to the liver to cause fatty liver disease. There are some weird things in the pamphlet, like protein 100gms each meal. No cheese and no milk ( other than 1 scrappy cup of java a day) (lactose is a sugar) but yes to cottage cheese and curd cheese.

Berries yes, bananas no.

Some strange yes tos and no thank you.

Food is classified red, Amber and green. A large green salad is allowed every meal (including breakfast!) but no dressing than Cider Vinegar. Avocado is Green, tomatoes are red, couldn't resist that one. What is wrong with the poor old tomato?

I go to the alternatives page, Cauliflower Mash anyone? Anyone for butternut squash or courgette ribbons as pasta? One quarter ounce of partisan cheese mixed with grated nuts as a topping? Yummie

Oh yes a treat of a gin and tonic or whiskey and soda, no wine. Duh!

I am going to go research this, must be some sense in it somewhere.

The nurse wasn't too sure on the specifics. It's a diabetic protocol. Along with blood samples, and the nurse says ' they will know if I stuck to it', some long term sugar marker in the blood. I shall go research it.
