I'm so pleased you have met a nice guy. I have heard the "3rd date=sex" legend from my brothers, but they admit that's really a GUY's wish list, and of course they also said that if they really like the girl, they take it more slowly.
Makes sense to me. ML is such an intimate act. I have had several girlfriends actually sleep with guys too early and then not want to see them again.
Here's the thing I liken it to, and you may really grasp it since you are a nurse.
Last year I had a surgery on a broken tibia, which turned out to be sort of a big deal. Very painful, and 4 days in a hospital with a bone graft, zero mobility, etc.
I LOVED my nursing staff. OMG best experience I've had in a hospital even though it was the most painful.
One nurse in particular, really connected with me. I instantly thought "wow, we could hang out". I really really liked her. By far my favorite, which was saying a lot.
THEN SHE GAVE ME A SPONGE BATH....OMG, I felt so vulnerable and mortified.
I guess it was just tooooooo intimate, you know?
(So now, she's dead to me...
Point is, I think sex too early in a R is sort of like that. Too much too soon, and it can actually cost a relationship.
Whereas I have never heard of Not rushing things, being harmful. Good for you.
Coincidentally, I know 2 nurses married to firefighters. I think there's a good commonality.
Good luck, stay the course and ENJOY whatever comes.
No strings or expectations attached, just hopes for decent companionship. As long as that is the goal (for NOW), then it seems pretty low risk, don't you think?
And So, what was the movie?
