I was once famously asked out by a colleague who I quite liked. And I was so panicked when he asked me, I said "out?!" I did later apologise, and we never did end up going out for various reasons..

I never lived it down with my colleagues, who years later would say "out??!!" and he ended up marrying someone else.

Hopefully I can deal with it more calmly (if it happens) this time around.....
