Ours are white and worn by people who are cold.

Oo, I know this one. H (American) wears a t-shirt under his work shirt to mop up the sweat. So he doesn't get sweat marks in the hot climate.

The Marks and Spencer "vest"? We call that a "wife beater", because the people who wear them...

So if that is a vest, what is this in England-speak?
