Faith, how big is the town where you live? If you search "what to do in __name of your city___ this weekend" (or the name of a bigger town nearby) you'll get a lot of hits. Some of them will be free, and many of them will be for kids. You can subscribe to the newsletters of nearby zoos, museums, etc. and sometimes they have free admission days and special events. Check MeetUp for grown-up activities. Do you attend a church or other house of worship? They might have activities for you and/or the kids. Do you have a college nearby? They might offer low-cost non credit classes as part of a continuing or community education program. Search for free or low-cost online classes, Craftsy has some free classes. Maybe you and your D13 could learn a new cooking technique together.
