What would happen if you just weren't available next time she calls. If you were out having fun? Or on your way out.

Then it's no pressure. A little mystery. And you aren't torturing yourself over saying the right things.

You could do this intentionally (not answer)... or just make yourself busy. I prefer the latter since there are other benefits.
