Well, we will have to agree to disagree about your having a choice. It seems you do have the choice to not break them up. I sympathize as I certainly know the pain of being split from a beloved pet. I'm sure you know there are tons if cats and kittens who need the home you could provide. It probably doesn't feel like one could replace Ellie, but you might be surprised.
