Up with the lark again, so I thought I'd type this out. When I went to see my counsellor last week and asked for help setting goals, she produce a P.A.C.E.R sheet which I have copied out below. It was initially for business use, but can also be useful for the likes of us.

Positive
What do you want? (Stated in the positive) - Get rid of fear and perceived personal rejection, courage, will power, safety

Achievement
How would you know that you had it? - I will be able to do things that I want to do.
What would you see, feel and hear? - I would see, feel and hear people taking more notice of me.
How would someone else know that you had it? - People would tell me.

Context
When do you want it? - All the time.
When don’t you want it? - In cases of danger.
With whom? Where? - Anyone, anywhere.

Ecology
Positive by-products, i.e.implications.
What would happen if you got it? - I would be able to take a more active role at work, with my family and friends.
If you get it would you lose anything? - I would lose baggage.
is it representative of who you are and where you want to be with persuading and influence? - Yes

Resources
Can you initiate it and maintain it? - Yes, I am working on it.
Is it in your control? - Yes, nobody else can do it for me.
What do you need to achieve it? - A positive mental attitude.
What is the time scale? - Three months to achieve conscious competence*. i think I am passing from level 2 & 3 now.
What are the evaluation points? - My sense of well-being, others perception of me.
How committed are you? - Very. I have to do this for myself.

* The four stages of competence are: unconscious incompetence, conscious incompetence, unconscious competence and conscious competence
