Thanks guys. Just hard to fathom. He is in Alabama, we are in Kansas. Obviously the idea that there were several tumors makes it more nerve wracking. Now it is a waiting game.

However it is day 17. Time to soldier on. Today: facing the Shadow.

Affirmation: I unconditionally accept all parts of myself.

Today: be aware of every time you negatively judge someone or something, then ask yourself, "Could this trait possibly be something that I have exhibited in the past,a currently exhibiting, or am capable of manifesting in the future?". Just examining your judgements begins to allow an integration to occur.

Task: Replacing " Could" for "Should"
Self critisim is part of the shadow self. It is the part that tells you that you should do something and then causes you to feel guilt or shame because you aren't doing it. Write done a list of things you should do. Then ask yourself , Who says I should?, Why should I?

Now replace the word "should"with"could". After each sentence write..but I choose not to at this time.

For example: I should call Bob. Changes to: I could call Bob bit I choose not to at this time.
Free yourselves. Blessings, kat

Hugs and prayers kat. Sorry I've been absent but I've been trying to keep up in the alt since I can get that on my phone easily.

I am just loving these affirmations! Are they from a book?

Make sure your brother has his vitamin D level checked:

South Med J. 2013 Feb;106(2):126-30. doi: 10.1097/SMJ.0b013e3182824d00.
Relationship of vitamin D monitoring and status to bladder cancer survival in veterans.
Peiris AN1, Bailey BA, Manning T.
Author information
Abstract
OBJECTIVES:

Veterans of the armed forces, like most population groups, have a high prevalence of vitamin D deficiency, which may be associated with adverse outcomes in several types of cancer. Ultraviolet irradiation is inversely linked with the risk of bladder cancer, presumably through enhanced vitamin D synthesis. We hypothesized that variations in vitamin D status and monitoring predict adverse outcomes in bladder cancer among veterans.
METHODS:

A retrospective analysis of data in the Veterans Integrated Service Network-9 (southeastern United States) was performed for patients diagnosed between October 1, 1999 and February 29, 2008. Age, tobacco exposure, body mass index, and latitude and seasonality of sampling were included as variables in addition to serum vitamin 25(OH)D levels.
RESULTS:

Monitoring of vitamin D and vitamin D levels and status were closely linked to survival in bladder cancer. Both the chances of survival and longevity improved with enhanced vitamin D status and monitoring. Veterans with bladder cancer had better outcomes if the initial vitamin D level was higher and had more monitoring of the vitamin. Initial vitamin D levels were more strongly related to outcomes than follow-up levels. The link between vitamin D and outcomes remained after adjusting for background variables such as age, body mass index, latitude, seasonality, and tobacco exposure.
CONCLUSIONS:

Findings suggest that adequate vitamin D levels early in the course of the disease provide the best opportunity to improve outcomes. Ensuring that veterans with bladder cancer have adequate vitamin D reserves with appropriate monitoring may play a role in improving outcomes in bladder cancer.

These affirmations and tasks are from Soul Coaching by Denise Linn. I paraphrase a bit but the affirmations are hers.

Thanks Kml. I will pass it on when things aren't so touchy. Just found out they told him he will need more surgery as the tumors are invasive. He will go back on the 14th. He just had surgery yesterday. My head is spinning.

Day 18: being present/saying yes to life

Affirmation: I invite the pure light of the sun into my heart. May it shine from my heart to the world.

Today: sit before a candle, inhale and imagine breathing in the the spirit and life force of fire. Visualize the purifying energy of fire surging through your entire being, burning any impurities within you.

Task: Being in the Present Moment. (this must be for me today). When you are totally in the present moment, you do not experience stress. You become stressed when you either replay the past or worry about the future. This prevents you from fully experiencing the joy of the moment. Remind yourself, I cannot change the past and tomorrow isn't here. All I need is within me right now.

I will be keeping that in my mind and heart.

Blessings, kat

Kat - re: your brother

Selenium 200 mcg/d - studies show low selenium associated with increased risk of bladder cancer. Don't exceed 400 mcg/d as too much selenium is not good either.

Vitamin D as discussed before - most of my patients are low and it usually takes 5,000 IU/d to get most patients up where they should be, a blood level around 50 or better. Look up grassrootshealth dot org for more info about vit D and cancer

Cannabinoids - found in cannabis oil (made to be lower in tHC, the thing that gets you high, and higher in cannabinoids) - has lots of research suggesting it can be helpful in cancer, and there is lots of specific research on cannabinoid receptors in the bladder. If medical marijuana is legal in your state, I'd investigate this as well.

Well, since I know it's not (we're neighbors!), you can come to Colorado!!! The main street out of my office is lined with shops. You've always got a place to stay here. smile

Kat, you're all in my prayers. Call me any time this weekend if you just need to vent or cry. I'm good for that.

Hugs,

Bets

I will probably do that Bets.

I had lunch with my parents and shared some news that I can't post on the alt. the doctor wanted my brother in next Monday but my sister-in-law is going on a week long cruise with the kids. I was not too happy and neither were my parents. They asked if him he didn't have a local friend to take him, then he offered to drive to Alabama and he would take him himself. My brother told my dad no, if he started to feel bad, his wife would stay! How kind of her. NOT!!!

So I get the feeling this is bad. Just have to take each day as it comes.

I have woken up to a beautiful day.

Day 19: Facing your death/Embracing your life

Affirmation: I live in the present moment with courage and love.

Today: Cherish your life and embrace your death. Cherish them both in all forms. Notice the fallen leaves and the new sprouts and remember that without death, there cannot be life.

Task: Make a ceremonial fire. In this fire place something that represents your body or past identity. You can use a piece of paper where you have drawn your body or a drawing of something that represents that past identity. As it burns say the following affirmation, Although I have have a body/an identity it is not who I am. In my essence, I am Divine Light.

Blessings, kat

Day 20: Your spiritual Allies

Affirmation: I am a loving spiritual being.

Today: Find as many ways as you can to be a silent emissary of kindness. Do something today to make a difference inyhe world, or evenin one person's world.

Task: Open your wings. There is an angelic energy within you. It is kind, pure and sweet. However over time, fear, shame, grief and disappointment may have tarnished your light. Visualize yourself as all pure energy again with kindness and love shining through. Radiate love and prayers with a purity of heart. You will make a difference.

Blessings, kat
