You are going to laugh...but we did have peas with our mac and cheese that night! Although, it wasn't up to Sting - so this may not be good data for our research. Sting made the mac and cheese and I, the big bad mom wolf, made S pick a veggie to have with it. He choose peas.

As far as the sitter goes, send the kids my way! They can go with S to my FIL's hotel and swim and play to their hearts' content! FIL would get a huge kick out of D6...problem solved! Or, a more economical solution, what about their dear old dad?
