Ex has worked in insurance for about 22 years now. He used to get a bonus on our decree required him to pay me a percentage. For whatever reason the state wasn't taking it out , however they said that he had overpaid. Don't quite get that if they are garnishing based on a court order. Anyway, he got a bonus a few times and then he just wrote me a check.
Due to loss of contracts he is on his 3 rd employer since the divorce. I know things have been overhauled with his most recent job. Shock of all shocks, he handed me a portion of his bonus. Since I am trying to get my car paid off before alimony ends, this was good timing and a welcome surprise.
Why do I feel grateful that he followed through? Does it really matter?

My position receives a bonus. During the back and forth over the terms of the decree sharing a portion of it disappeared. My L noted it and informed me he was not going to bring it up at the next meeting. So we waited for X and her L to notice and amend the agreement. They never did. I did a little happy dance.
It comes in handy and I have used it, most recently to purchase a modest outdoor play set for our Grand Daughter. I no longer have feelings associated with it. It just is.
We feel what we feel at the time. As time moves on and we do with it, our feelings change. We have spent so much energy and time on self examination that it becomes natural for us to sometimes question why we feel the way we do. I think we eventually will arrive at a point where this ceases. What happens after? IDK and I am looking forward to it.

It was thanks! Hope yours was too. I think everyone had a nice day but d15 has a terrible sore throat and now a runny nose. Hope this cold runs its course soon.

Gee, I had to hike all the way to page three to find myself! .
Tomorrow d13 graduates from 8th grade. The time has flown. So theoretically I will have two in high school and two in college. The college is where the question lies. Well we have time for that.
As I mentioned on another thread, I stopped by Match.com just to see what was going on over there. Now I have an email that I can't read unless I pay. I don't know if it is even worth it. Thoughts?
On top of that, my escrow payment on my house went up. I can fork over the lump sum or have my payment go up about 40 dollars a month. Do they not realize I will be scrambling as it is? Guess they don't care.
Part of me is debating just trying to find a better paying full time job rather than work two jobs. I just hate the idea of having to jump fromone frying pan to another. Just overall frustrated. Vent over.

Don't bother to pay for Match.com. I had just as good results on OKCupid, which is a free site.
As for the work issues - one better paying job would be good. Even better might be some side gig that pays well; do you have any skills or things you can make that might get you a greater return on time spent? How much do you make per hour in your current job?
(Btw, why did your escrow payment go up? Did your property taxes rise? Or your insurance? Double check their math - sometimes mortgage companies screw up the escrow accounting, that's why I don't deal with an escrow account anymore - I just pay my own taxes and insurance.)
The home owners insurance and property tax went up. So it was higher than they had estimated from the previous year.
I am just now making 16.51. Took 7 years to get there. I am helping this one guy with typing and post listings on Craig's list and he pays my hourly rate but it is only an hour here and there. I am going to help this other gal set up her office but she wants to pay me in trade. She gives massages. There are a couple of jobs I am looking at on flex jobs and there is a gal I am hoping to set appointments for, but again limited hours. In a way those piece meal jobs will work because there is flexibility. I just want to make sure I am not breaking even but having a bit of breathing room.
Why the short fall? If you haven't kept up, my second son comes off child support end of June and my alimony ends in September.

As for Match.com - if you are really interested in dating then go ahead and pay for a month or three. If you aren't then maybe just don't even look at the site and then you won't have the delimna of wondering about an email, etc. - afterall you can't miss what you don't know about.
I can emphathize on the escrow stuff. With the housing turnaround (at least in the area I live) my payment went up this year as well due to an almost 10% increase in my property taxes. The house I rent out in Florida did the same thing, but it was primarily due to another yearly increase in the homeowners insurance which continues to get more ridiculous every year. I now pay more than $2100 per year for insurance just on the structure alone and no contents since it is a rental. And this for a house that I couldn't even sell for more than $150,000 if I wanted to!
Oh Kat, the stress is piling on right now isn't it sweetie. I'm so sorry. I don't have any great advice but I will say that I know if there is a way through this you will find it!
