Does this bring me closer to my ultimate goal?

If your goal is to save your marriage, then I would not send it.
If your goal is to move on with your life and ask for a D, then I don't see am issue.
Only you know the answers to these questions. Take a step back and reevaluate what you want to say and how you are feeling. With time your attitude about sending it may change.

Personally I would not send the message, ever, no matter what my answer was to either question.
