You have your sidewalk free of clutter and your neighbor 3 doors down has a mess...so you clean everyday your sidewalk and you think your neighboor should do the same... So there you go with all the equipment and clean his side of the street...tomorrow again the same mess...you clean that mess again..and so on for 2 weeks.. After 2 weeks you have build so much resentment that you approach him and tell hom: man I am cleaning your sidewalk and you keep making it dirty... You have to take care of that... You expose him your points and defend those beliefs you think are the "right" ones.... He gets upset and then tomorrow he does the same... Then you go into the game of judging him and talking about him with other neighboors... Why if all neighboors agree with me.. He doesnt?? Well its his choice, if he doesnt want to clean its his choice and nothing you do will change that...
You have to take care of your side of the street and let your W take care of her side of the street and if she doesnt want to, thats her choice and you have to respect it no matter what otherways you are the only one suffering here... Untill she doesnt realize her side of the street its a mess she would not take action...
