I'm baaack! It's been a long, long time. My old thread in the Newcomers section was locked several months ago. I'm starting a new thread here because it seems to be the most appropriate area now.
Quick update: I met with my W and the Ls to work on finalizing the D agreement this morning. For the most part, it went well. The only thing we negotiated was the child support amount. The meeting really seemed to tear my W up more so than it did me. Yeah, I was anxious about it, and it did affect me, too. But my L even commented that it seems like my W is regretting her decision.
Of course, I've continued to GAL. I have been blessed abundantly with being able to do some physical activity I haven't been able to do in over 20 years. I was able to ride two centuries (100 miles) last year, and I'm currently training for a half marathon. I just got back from my 6th mission trip, and third trip to Belize. I am coaching Basketball on my S's team, I'm an adult leader for the youth group at my church as well as being active in several other group in my church. I am leading a group of my own as well.
My S, though, has been struggling this year with school. It starts a couple of hours earlier than it did last year. He's in Junior High now. He's treating his school work like it's optional and his grades are showing that. Part of the silver lining in this is that my W has been willing to help with his struggles at school.
gabbysmom - yeah, sometimes I think I GAL too much, LOL.
The mission trips to Belize have been a combination of medical, dental, construction, window screening and other miscellaneous tasks. I've gone to West Virginia twice to a Juvenile Detention Center and we held a VBS for the kids there. Last summer, I went as an adult leader on a pre-teen trip to inner city Pittsburgh and took my S. He was packing food at a food bank and I was hanging out at a retirement home.
