CC, It's difficult for you to deal w/him when he's acting out and then comes around and is acting normal. Their emotions swing to and fro and you never know who you will get at any given time. The thing to do is accept him for who he is right now and leave him to his own path. An hour from now, he could be on that emotional coaster once again.
Sit quietly, the answers will reveal themselves when you least expect them to. The past is gone, the present is a gift and you need to focus on today, allow the future to reveal itself when it is ready.
