Anyway, a dissolution is an agreement between both parties, usually when each is represented by an attorney. The parties divide the assets and come to an agreement AND THEN file the papers for the court to look over. The court, if everything is done properly, will agree and judge the marriage dissolved.

A divorce is a trial where a judge makes the big decisions. In this case, both parties weren't able to agree to terms on their own and each must have their own attorney. Each attorney pleas each spouse's case and a judge will make the final decision. Wishing's situation is a good example of a divorce. The process is lengthier and more expensive. Wishing has been at it for two years. Her H has argued with just about everything she has asked for, from support to the house to the furnishings, etc... He has fought her and, now, a judge is involved to make the final decisions before he declares them divorced.
