KML - I'll pass on the information about cannabis oil. Thanks.

LaBug and Bets - Thanks for the kind words. Much appreciated.

So the last 24 hours has been another trying day for my father. Yesterday they had to pump water that had accumulated in his body including his lungs. He was having trouble breathing and in pain. After he got home from that, the morphine dose that they prescribed him was over the top. My Mom had to call my brother who is a nurse over to the house last night because my dad was listing to one side in his recliner, couldn't get up and was basically non-responsive. My brother said when he got over there Dad was unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech and it was clear to him he was overmedicated. My brother has communicated with the doctor regarding the dosage and they have adjusted it.

Then today Dad started coughing up blood. So off to the hospital he went and has now been admitted for at least overnight. They are going to do another dialysis treatement on him and he has some more fluid in his lungs. My brother just called and said Dad is one unhappy camper. Sigh.

BA, my prayers are with all of you.

You inspired me to host a valentines party next Friday. I can't wait! There is no time like the present, and I'm going to use my china, crystal and silver. I'm going to decorate and go all out.

Hugs,

Bets

I'd love to have you! I'm figuring out what I want on the menu. Pizza doesn't really make my Lenox and Waterford look great, ya know? smile Come on down!

My D19 wants to come too, LOL. But she and her BF are heading to my parents' house for their mini break next week. BF's b-day is Valentines Day, so my mom is going all out for that. Her b-day is the week after, so my guess is there's going to be a joint celebration.

I don't entertain much these days. I think I'm going to make that my resolution now.

I miss all those places I used to go to when I flying. frown. I don't think that is actually the same as missing the job. I have come to realize that ex always made the situation worse by telling me how unhappy I was. I am an empath and I took his displeasure on as my own.

Is there still the Old Spaghetti Factory around? I should just look it up. smile

Kat-we still have an Old Spaghetti Factory downtown. I had to look it up because it's relocated and I thought they closed for good. Plus with Maggiano's so close, I have a tough time going anywhere else for Italian close to my house. Up near Dennis' we go to a small mom and pop Italian restaurant called Bella's. It's beyond awesome.

Gineen, we still have a couple Fuddruckers around, but not many. The ones near me have all closed. We have so many decent burger joints around that I don't miss them much anymore. But I used to adore them. Especially their brownies. Yum!

The Mountain Man candy guy stopped by my office this morning. He comes every 2 weeks. I bought 3 bags of VD candy for D16 and to probably eat myself LOL. I've never been a huge fan of VD. But it's my excuse to entertain, so I'm gonna use it. It's a Hallmark holiday that is contrived, and I always hated that I had to share my specialness with everyone else on the planet. I like my birthday so much more.

If any of you come to Denver, I'll entertain. Where is Golf Girl these days? I'm gonna have to text her too. Hopefully she is okay.

Time to make dinner.

TTFN,

Betsey

I'm here....mostly lurking, but here.

BA,
I'm so very sorry about your dad. Thoughts and prayers are with you. I'm a fan of alternative treatments if there's any chance of that. My dad was diagnosed with lung cancer/leukemia in April 2006 and passed that same December, so I understand the shock, grief, etc.

Betsey,
Let's have a party soon and celebrate getting out of the frigid temps! This week has been crazy cold and I got a touch of the flu on top of it all. But, I'm feeling better and tomorrow's Friday....

I said goodbye to Dave on Jan. 25. He didn't have the emotional depth I'm seeking and hadn't learned to love himself. He had jumped from relationship to relationship and it became apparent that he just wanted to get married...fast. I don't think it mattered to whom. After a hunch, my friend checked and he was right back on match.com. I'm happy to be going solo. I love my life and I'm busy with my friends and my work. I'll have it all in a relationship, or I'll cherish the relationship with myself instead.

I love checking in and following you all. So many great stories and sharing of lives. I'm just excited the Olympics are starting and I'm praying for safety there!!

Hey GG - Glad to see you posting. Sorry Dave didn't work out - I guess we aren't all great afterall! wink

I talked with my Mom last night. Good news is that it looks like my father will get out of the hospital this morning, provided there are no overnight setbacks. Better news is that the hospital believes they can get him accepted into hospice and allow him to continue dialysis and also go on Sutent as palliative treatments. Keeping my fingers crossed that they are successful.

On another front that I haven't really mentioned on here in awhile is the 24 year old student school teacher from New York that had pursued my D15 online and travelled down here to see her without me knowing about it. Well he was served with an arrest warrant and a search warrant yesterday so I'm pretty sure he had a well-deserved miserable night. Even after being told twice to stay away from D15 and not contact her, the idiot logged onto D15's facebook account (yes he had her password) and used it to message her two days ago. To D15s credit, she notified her mother about it immediately after seeing it. She could have kept quiet and we would never have known. At some level I'm a bit sorry his life has been ruined by all of this but it really is his own doing and our going to the police should keep him from teaching school and having access to other young girls in the future.
