I'm really down...so so hard to watch the Broncos implode on the field throughout the Super Bowl game.

Thanks, Wonka. Can't say it's been a wonderful day here myself. What a sh1t show.

Our Super Bowl party was lively, including 3 cops, 2 in uniform cause they were on duty (not drinking), but most of the rest of us were. Lots of F bombs, which got worse with each passing minute. The only 2 people who didn't were my D16 and the elderly mother of one of the other guests. It was awful. I haven't heard that many F bombs since I worked for the Navy. If I didn't have to worry about D16, I'd have gotten really drunk and taken one of the cops up on their offer for an escort home. Plus I had to work today. Ugh.

I'm ready for the Olympics. I love them. In fact, I was in labor in 1994 with D19 while watching the super G. Kind of fitting. Can't believe she's going to be 20 in a few weeks. Fastest 20 years of my life!

My former boss (party host) met with the oncologist on Friday. There is no further treatment. He has weekly movie dates with the off duty cop (who is my friend too), and they want me to start joining them. We're going to see Nebraska on Saturday. I'm going to give him as much of me as he can handle and provided I can still work. My gut tells me we don't have long to make the most out of it. I did tell him that if anyone could cheat death, it was him. He laughed.

So now I know the reason I'm not wanting to date. Maybe after this is all over and I give myself permission to grieve. He's been my mentor for 22 years now, and pretty much another member of my family. BA, we might have to have scotch night sooner rather than later...

I also have an appointment with the collision repair folks on Friday. Lovely. I get to find out how expensive it is to be a dolt.

I almost had a wreck tonight. Scared the begeebees out if me. The car had their turn signal on so I went ahead and pulled out to turn and just about got hit. Shook me up, took a while to calm down.

Kids get a snow day tomorrow and my boss called me at home and said we were closing. No point sitting around and watching it snow. I am glad I don't have to get out in it until Wednesday anyhow. What a crazy day!

Scotch at the ready Bets, come on over whenever you like. I'm thinking we both could probably use more than a dram or two.

My Dad went to the oncologist yesterday. They've prescribed him morphine for the pain and want to put him on the drug Sutent to reduce the tumors. It does not cure the cancer just shrinks the tumors and provides a bit more time. Problem is the stuff is expensive as h*ll and their insurance doesn't cover it. They are going to check through the VA and see if he can get it through them, but I don't think it's likely. Not sure why the doctor even recommended it to him. It's like dangling a carrot in front of a horse that cannot reach it. Sigh...

Maybe you can contact the manufacturer directly and get it at a more affordable price. I am sorry that your dad is going through this. Cancer is just terrible. I have seen it draw out for a long time or take some unsuspecting young person in a blink of an eye.

I hope you can take some time with him. Help him do what he needs to. Blessings and hugs.

Thanks Kat. The Oncologist's office is attempting to get Pfizer to provide it at a more affordable rate but they don't seem very optimistic about the chances of getting a significant reduction.

Some companies do have hard ship programs but not sure about cancer drugs.

It costs nothing to ask. Contact the manufacturer directly or visit their website.

BA my dad had colon cancer and no insurance (long story). We had him interview with a Cancer Research Institute in my state. He was part of a study and got free treatment. It prolonged his life by a couple of years. Look into it in your state.

Aww, BA. Then there's the question I'd want answered first: is it just prolonging a painful life? And if so, how long? It's such a personal decision.

My former boss is very clear on what he wants. He has told the doctors (and those of us who are close) that he would rather die on the 50 yard line with gusto and give life everything he has rather than get hit on the 50 and crawl to the end zone. He could take Nexavar, but it is also ridiculously expensive, and they believe that it will only add 3 months of life. He's decided he'd rather have all his faculties than to buy 3 months that won't change the outcome. So... we honor that. If he needed that extra time to get things in order, I might voice a differing opinion. But he's taken care of that, and he just wants to enjoy his friends and family for 100% of the time he has left. Can't speak for his family, but as friends, we're going to do that.

Kat - they showed KC on the news this morning. Yikes! We aren't getting that much snow - probably have 3 inches now and it's blowing and still snowing, but school wasn't delayed. At least they have the trucks out there in full force. I came in late (my normally 15 minute commute was an hour today) and will probably leave early too. And it's cold. So stay warm and don't go anywhere! If I had that choice, I'd have stayed home too.
