Thanks Sandi - As I am an avid hiker, that's a perfect analogy. Also, to relate back to AS's post, I haven't done much hiking this winter because my hiking partner decided she didn't want to be around me. I have been toying with the idea of going alone and thought it was something that I would like to try but never did. I think this weekend, I will go for it and enjoy myself, alone, doing something that I love to do.

Perfect, sounds like just the thing to help you realize that you CAN have fun alone! Great idea smile

well - the silence has been broken. Email from the wife:

"Hello. How have you been? I was so used to hearing from you that its been weird not talking to you."

I wrote her back an email that said:

"Sandi says I can't talk to you."
smile smile

Actually - i said nothing and won't for now.

Let me give up the need to know why things happen as they do.

Excellent response, I think that's in DR isn't it? wink

It's OK to reply when she pings you, just don't overdo it. Say something like "I've been great, thanks for asking!" Be mysterious, make her wonder why you're so "great" smile

Is this email nothing more than a temp check to see if I am still around for her? I am probably reading into it or putting my own wants into it but perhaps she is starting to get a look at what its going to be like without me and doesnt like it?

I am split on whether I should reply or not. I don't want to be a jerk but really think I am content to let her stew a little bit.

It could be a temp check... At the same time nothing has meaning, only the meaning you give it. So instead of saying she's temp checking you could say: She wants to know how i'm doing. I think one thing to remember is your goal at all times. Take the actions that will help you produce the desired outcome, realize what works and what doesn't and develop the flexibility to change your behavior until you get the outcome you want. Don't forget the goal Dingo...
