Thanks Guys :-)

Haven't heard back from Smokey about deposit.

Here's what I'm sending to the customers that want to continue to pay nothing. She has texted me daily asking when her kids can come over. Seriously?

Dear ,

Let me explain. I didn’t do a very good job last week. I’m only typing because it’s easier to read than my writing.

First of all, you are NOT stepping on any toes, least of all mine. We made an agreement and, up to now, it worked fine for me. I was in a position where I didn’t want to show too much income and I was happy to help.

I’m still happy to help where I’m able. I, normally, would charge $350 to $400 for the time and services I’m providing X and X. I’m not asking this from you guys.

You have been wonderful friends and the low-key arrangement we had was perfect for where I was at last fall.

However, after speaking with three attorneys, I’m becoming aware that I need to get my ducks in a row in order to keep D11 safe from any whim or revenge H may seek. He COULD demand that D11 go back to a mainstream school and he COULD say that I need to show income for a full-time position at minimum wage. If he were to do so, I would need to prove D11’s success with the current homeschool situation AND I would need to show that I’m earning a minimum of $1,300 per month.

Currently, I’m at one-third of what I need income-wise. In addition, H is inconsistent and unreliable with the support payments. I will handle this, but I need to make sure I have things in order, on my end, to protect D11.

My main priority is to protect D11 from further disruption in her life.

I’m including an invoice for February. You are under NO OBLIGATION to pay this amount. I’m simply showing you what I need monthly to continue helping the kids($125 cash, 100lb. bag of chicken feed, 1 bale of straw per month).

I’m also showing what you are getting in return. A commitment from you will mean expectations on both our parts.

You can expect 6 hours of tutoring for X and 3 hours for X weekly. I will also provide documentation to prove what hours and coursework the kids have completed. I will also expect the kids to be here on time and ready to go for the time I schedule.

My goal is to help X and X complete their coursework and develop some good habits in the meantime.

I know this is a hardship for you right now and I wish I could continue the way things have been. I’m trying to play the cards life has dealt.

Sincerely,

I'm sending an invoice along with the letter. If this doesn't clear things up, then I'm washing my hands of them.
