Pam, Marc_d, KAW!

Thank you all for visiting! And thank you for your kind encouragement!

Husband and I had a wonderful weekend together!

Saturday, we cleaned up in the house, and then worked together outside all day! We found these really heavy, wooden walkway pieces in the area where I'm going to put the labyrinth. So, we plotted and planned and ended up moving them next to the pool for a very nice walkway. It looks great!

Then we ate dinner (Subway!) and watched Sweet Home Alabama...what a great day!

Sunday, we slept in late and then played Final Fantasy until it was time for me to leave with my parents to attend a charity function.

I got all dressed up and husband complimented me. Told me he'd love to come with us, just to see me looking so pretty. (But at $75 a plate, he stayed home )

My parents had a wonderful time. They got up and danced while an Elvis impersonator sang. This was my first charity event, it's for building a playground in our town. So, it was very eyeopening.

The drinks flowed, the excitement was very palpable. The celebrity waiters/waitresses were doing various things to earn 'tips' for the playground. We had to buy 'funny money' with real money, and then tip with the funny money. So, there was a clown there who was having people pay for face paintings and balloon animals.

And then we had an auction. I've never been part of an auction before. But, we had paper plates with numbers written on them. My Mom had spotted something she wanted to buy for my Dad's office. And she wanted me to bid on it. How exciting and fun!

So, she was next to me, telling me when to bid again. The auction announcer didn't see me at first, so I held up my plate for my first bid...and since he didn't see me, I shouted out, "HEY!".

Y'all should have seen my Dad's face. He's been such a huge help for me, learning how to keep a budget and stay within it. When he saw me bidding, his jaw fell to the floor. Lol.

Of course, my Mom and I had kept it a secret...cause if we won, the prize was to be a gift to him.

So, after that, the auction announcer kept his eye on me. And we ended up winning the bid! For $700. Ouch..I'm glad my Mom was paying! LOL.

My poor Dad, was in shock after that. Mom started teasing him, claiming we were prepared to pay $5000...so $700 was quite a bargain.

When I got home, I found out that Husband had spent some time raking the area for the Labyrinth and doing other household chores. Gee, I'm soooo lucky to have him! He rocks!

So, I had a great weekend...fun with Husband, fun with parents!

Hugs all!

Poepad,I've never heard of it. I googled it and the results all came up with another language...so I wasn't able to read about it. I did find something called Lap Band that talked about surgery and putting a band on the stomach...was that what you were talking about?

http://www.waynesmith.net/lapband/my_stories/my_story.htm
WOW! Now what to say....

I had been slender most of my life. But when I reached the age of 35, something changed and I started to gain weight. More and more each year...

In 1988, I was a frustrated guy. I weighed over 300 lb.. I had tried numerous diets and routines. The results were always the same. I would lose the weight, then would regain the weight, and more, when the diet routine was over. I was not a happy man. Some of the things that I liked to do I could no longer do. Walking, Bicycling, Kayaking, were out of the question. I even owned two old cars. I could not even sit in them without my belly hitting the steering wheels, or there was no room for my friends to sit beside me.

I first researched this and other procedures about 1988. I had talked to many surgeons about various procedures. The best of all the procedures at that time was the Vertical Banded Gastroplasty. But, At that time, I was not to sure that I wanted my body to be cut and pasted in the variety of methods available at that day. When I look at my notes from that time, I made a note, that wouldn't it be easier if all you did was to place a rusty hose clamp, from a 1957 Chevy, around the stomach. Little was I to know.

When I became aware of the LapBand product, there was little to consider. This was a no brainier. So October 7, 1999, I had the LapBand placed by Dr Rumbaut in Monterrey, Mexico.

The results: I have lost 130# in about 8-9 months, reaching goal weight of 185# in July 2000. Since that time, I have maintained that weight without dieting at all. I eat anything that I want, whenever I want. The weight has remained centered around 190#. Some days up a little, some days down a bit.

My life is totally changed... I can walk almost forever. I have paddled a marathon in a kayak. There is now a gap of 8 inches between my belly and my steering wheel in my old cars. I can dance all night long. People don't look at me in total disgust. I can cross my legs without having to grab a pants leg to lift the leg. I can get off of a floor without having to get something to assist me. I went from a size 64 waist to a size 36, 4X Shirts to a Medium.

The LapBand is not for the brain dead. It is not an end all, be all kind of surgery. The LapBand does require you to be somewhat intelligent and responsible as the user of the device. The band controls the amount of food that you eat, but you have to control what you eat. So, when you belly up to the food court, you have a choice of what to eat. But, It is generally easy to choose. Pick healthy food. Like Duh? If you pick Ice Cream all the time, you will have an Ice Cream type body. If you pick good healthy food, you will have good healthy body. Good healthy bodies requires a bit of water to keep it running. With the band, you will drink a bit of water. About two quarts a day is normal.

Some common questions that are asked by normees:

Do I have to exercise? No, but, do you want a lean, mean, fighting machine, or a small, flabby one. I walk every day, 20 minutes or more. If any trip is less than 4-6 blocks, I walk. I love to walk. Last month, was in San Francisco. Walked all over the place. When you walk, you can see more of the neighborhood rather than the taillights of the car ahead of you.

Do I miss food? Some days yes, some days no. I am a cheap date. I can go into a food place and order the smallest thing on the menu. Rarely can I finish it. With the LapBand, I eat until I feel full, then quit. At that point, I feel full, and sated. Banded persons will tell you how weird it is to eat so little. But, when you feel full, who cares if you just ate half a cup of food or half a gallon of food?

Do people notice how much you eat? Not at all. They are so busy forking down their meal with snow shovels, that they don't even notice that you are consuming yours one bean at a time. You can talk more at the dinner table with LapBand.

Knowing what I know, would I do it again? In a millisecond...If you want more information, see my web page: http://www.waynesmith.net/lapband/

Poe, Pam!

Thank you both for visiting!

Poe, thank you for posting that information! I appreciate it!

Pam, as always, you brighten my day!

So, this morning, Husband and I woke up at the same time.

While I was in the shower, he told me that he wanted to leave work early and asked me if that was ok.

Me being sleepy responded, "Sure, I don't care."

He said, "You don't care?"

I responded, "Babe, of course, I'd love to have you home, you know that!!"

He said, "Oh, ok...you know I need reassurances every once in awhile."

Who is this open, honest, vulnerable, sweet guy???

I love him!

Hugs all!

Greetings People!

I had a wonderful weekend with Husband.

Saturday, we went out to eat lunch, went to $1.00 theatre and saw The Last Samuri..and then went and stocked up on groceries.

Sunday, we played Final Fantasy and finished the game...Yeah Us...and yet..sorta sad. But now, we have a chance to start playing Final Fantasy X B or part 2 or whatever!

Sunday he said he may go out. I said, "Ok..I have this, this and this to do if you go out...so it's ok with me."

He then called his friends...and when the phone call was over said he wasn't going out.

I wasn't sure if they were busy or if he changed his mind..but I hugged him and covered his face with kisses to show him how happy I was that he was staying. He grinned at that!

We watched "Anger Management" and that was fun.

And he taught me how to make his favorite meal. Yummy!

Then as we were snuggling in bed for sleep, he told me, "I want you to know that I love every minute I spend with you."

Then he told me he was upset. Because I haven't been writing down positives in my notebook. He said, "I must not be doing anything right, lately."

He was half teasing me.

So, I reassured him that he's done tons of great things, but that my sparkly pens had just run out of ink...and I needed to get some new ones.

So, that was wonderful validation from him on my positives notebook!

Oh...and in talking, he said, "The reason I want to have kids is..." And to my embarrasment, I didn't even hear the rest of the sentence, I was just so thrilled to have another validation that he wants to have kids with me!

Hugs all!
