Thank you all for visiting! And thank you for your kind encouragement!
Husband and I had a wonderful weekend together!
Saturday, we cleaned up in the house, and then worked together outside all day! We found these really heavy, wooden walkway pieces in the area where I'm going to put the labyrinth. So, we plotted and planned and ended up moving them next to the pool for a very nice walkway. It looks great!
Then we ate dinner (Subway!) and watched Sweet Home Alabama...what a great day!
Sunday, we slept in late and then played Final Fantasy until it was time for me to leave with my parents to attend a charity function.
I got all dressed up and husband complimented me. Told me he'd love to come with us, just to see me looking so pretty. (But at $75 a plate, he stayed home )
My parents had a wonderful time. They got up and danced while an Elvis impersonator sang. This was my first charity event, it's for building a playground in our town. So, it was very eyeopening.
The drinks flowed, the excitement was very palpable. The celebrity waiters/waitresses were doing various things to earn 'tips' for the playground. We had to buy 'funny money' with real money, and then tip with the funny money. So, there was a clown there who was having people pay for face paintings and balloon animals.
And then we had an auction. I've never been part of an auction before. But, we had paper plates with numbers written on them. My Mom had spotted something she wanted to buy for my Dad's office. And she wanted me to bid on it. How exciting and fun!
So, she was next to me, telling me when to bid again. The auction announcer didn't see me at first, so I held up my plate for my first bid...and since he didn't see me, I shouted out, "HEY!".
Y'all should have seen my Dad's face. He's been such a huge help for me, learning how to keep a budget and stay within it. When he saw me bidding, his jaw fell to the floor. Lol.
Of course, my Mom and I had kept it a secret...cause if we won, the prize was to be a gift to him.
So, after that, the auction announcer kept his eye on me. And we ended up winning the bid! For $700. Ouch..I'm glad my Mom was paying! LOL.
My poor Dad, was in shock after that. Mom started teasing him, claiming we were prepared to pay $5000...so $700 was quite a bargain.
When I got home, I found out that Husband had spent some time raking the area for the Labyrinth and doing other household chores. Gee, I'm soooo lucky to have him! He rocks!
So, I had a great weekend...fun with Husband, fun with parents!
