So today at work, W dropped by my office while hers was being cleaned. She seemed tentative, but I invited her to take a seat. She chatted about work for a short while then returned to her office. We had a few short work related conversations. She asked if I would be coming in on my birthday. I told her no. (She still has not asked when I am leaving for the holidays. My TC said not to volunteer the information unless she asks. Let her miss me. I need to be more mysterious.) Just before I left for they day, I asked if I could speak with her away from her colleagues. She seemed irritated. Once in the hall, I told her that for as long as we have been together I have loved her and that I still do. She seemed to be expecting something more, maybe a lecture or an argument, but didn't say anything. I told her I just wanted to let her know how I feel. She seemed relieved and went back to her office. Before I left, I placed a card and two small, thoughtful, but inexpensive gifts in her work mailbox.
